This Is Not Another List of Side Hustles

The internet can give you thousands of business ideas in seconds. That is not the problem.

The problem is choosing one idea, turning it into a real offer, contacting actual customers, and continuing after the first uncomfortable week.

The Grown-Up Startup Club gives every member the same carefully selected business to test. You receive the blueprint, the starting materials, and physical letters throughout the month telling you what should be completed and what to do next.

A Realistic Business

Each challenge focuses on a practical opportunity that can be tested without investors, a large audience, or years of preparation.

A Clear 30-Day Plan

You receive the offer, pricing model, startup budget, customer profile, operating process, and launch calendar.

Physical Accountability

Letters arrive throughout the month with checkpoints, assignments, course corrections, and the next concrete action.

What Arrives During Each Challenge

1. The Business Blueprint

You receive the complete opportunity: what the business sells, who buys it, why they would pay, estimated startup costs, suggested pricing, important risks, and the fastest way to test demand.

2. The Build Letter

This letter turns the idea into an offer. It gives you the first-week assignments, sample wording, operating steps, and a clear definition of what needs to exist before you start selling.

3. The Sales Letter

You receive prospecting scripts, outreach messages, marketing examples, and practical instructions for finding the first potential customers without already having a large following.

4. The Course-Correction Letter

If nobody responded—or you fell behind—this letter helps you diagnose what happened, change the approach, and finish the test instead of quietly abandoning it.

5. The Final Decision

At the end of the challenge, you evaluate the evidence. Should you continue, modify the offer, repeat the test, or stop? The goal is an informed decision—not endless optimism.

The August Founding Challenge

Launch a Local Review Request Kit Service

Businesses depend on customer reviews, but many have no consistent or compliant process for requesting them.

The August challenge teaches members to create and sell a practical review-request kit containing customized QR materials, customer follow-up wording, staff instructions, and an optional ongoing support service.

Members receive sample marketing materials, prospecting scripts, suggested packages, pricing guidance, and the exact 30-day test process.

The challenge does not use review incentives, positive-review pressure, or review gating.

Built for People With Real Responsibilities

This club is for adults who cannot pretend that time, money, and risk do not matter.

You may have a job, a family, an existing business, unfinished ideas, or a long history of purchasing information you intended to use “when things slowed down.”

You do not need to quit your job. You do not need investors. You do not need to become an influencer.

You need one realistic opportunity and the next concrete step.

Meet the Founder

The Grown-Up Startup Club was created by Steven Funkhouser, founder of Is This Worth It?

Steven’s experience includes starting and operating businesses involving mail and shipping, coffee products, websites, compliance, professional services, and business support.

The letters include lessons from the parts of entrepreneurship that rarely appear in motivational videos: buying the wrong thing, building before selling, dealing with regulations, changing direction, managing limited time, and deciding whether an idea deserves another month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a recurring subscription?

No. The Founding 100 offer is a one-time $99 purchase. It does not automatically renew.

Do I receive a different business selected specifically for me?

No. Every member works through the same featured challenge each month. This creates a focused, scalable experience instead of low-priced individual consulting.

Do I need previous business experience?

No. The challenge explains the offer, customer, pricing, starting materials, outreach process, and launch steps. Members are still responsible for determining whether an idea is appropriate for their circumstances.

Is business income guaranteed?

No. The club provides educational materials and a structured test process. Results depend on the member, market, execution, location, pricing, and other factors outside our control.

Where do you mail?

The founding offer is available only to valid mailing addresses in the United States.

What happens if a letter is lost?

Contact support and we will verify the address and replace qualifying lost, incomplete, or materially damaged materials.

Can I cancel?

You may cancel before the first package enters fulfillment. After fulfillment begins, complete future monthly challenges that have not entered fulfillment may be eligible for a $33-per-challenge refund under our published policy.
